Heirloom BUTTERCRUNCH Butterhead Lettuce -- 4000 Seeds
Heirloom, Open Pollinated, Non GMO, Non Hybrid USA Grown Seeds
All-America Selections Winner
65 DAYS. Extremely popular lettuce with luscious, buttery texture. The most popular of the butterhead types. Compact, loose heads with smooth, soft, tender leaves are creamy yellow inside. Best in cooler regions. Compact heads with some heat resistance. Protect from heat with shade cloth. Best when picked minutes before your meal. Slow to bolt. Excellent flavor and texture.
Plant early in spring and again in late fall for fall crop. Sow every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh lettuce. In dry weather, keep soil moist and during germination. Grows best during the cooler part of the growing season. If the soil temperature rises
above 75F, the seeds become dormant.
Great for container gardens! Most any container will do as long as there's good drainage. Lettuce roots are relatively shallow, but use at least a gallon pot that's at least 6 inches deep.
SEED SOWING: Germination temperature 50ºF-65ºF. Direct sow after danger of all frost. Cover seeds lightly under 1/8" of fine well-drained soil. Press gently. Thin seedlings to 12"-18" apart. Germination is 7-14 days depending upon growing conditions.
