Heirloom MAMMOTH RED ROCK Cabbage -- 2000 Seeds
100 days. First introduced in 1889. Beautiful large 8-pound red heads, great for salads, cooking and pickling. This variety stores very well.
Cabbage is a cool weather crop, making it a hardy plant that grows well in cooler climates.
SEED SOWING: Sow seeds indoors before last frost or direct sow outdoors in spring after last frost. Can be planted in late summer to early fall. Germination temperature 50F-75F. Sow seeds 1/8" deep, thin 1" tall seedlings to 18" apart. Germination is 10-15 days depending upon growing conditions.
NUTRIONAL VALUE: Cabbage, as with broccoli and other brassicas, contains sulforaphane, a chemical believed to have potent anticancer properties. Cabbage and other brassicas are also a source of indole-3-carbinol, a chemical which boosts DNA repair in cells and appears to block the growth of cancer cells.
