Grand Rapids lettuce originated in  Michigan. The variety proved itself to be superior especially for the shipping industry, since it grew quickly and did not rot easily. Grand Rapids lettuce is credited with establishing the lettuce industry of the great city of Grand Rapids, Michigan.

Lettuce is a fairly hardy, cool-weather vegetable. It should be planted in early spring or late summer. Sow every 2-3 weeks for a continuous supply of fresh lettuce. In dry weather, keep soil moist and during germination. Grows best in cooler weather. If the soil temperature rises above 75F, the seeds become dormant..At high temperatures, growth is stunted, the leaves may be bitter and the seed stalk forms and elongates rapidly.

Germination temperature 50F-65F. Planting instructions are included. Germination depends upon growing conditions.
