Copenhagen Market was produced by Hjalmar Hartman & Co., of Copenhagen, Denmark and introduced in the U.S. in 1909.
70 DAYS. Stands longer in the field without bursting than any other variety. Heavy yielder of light green heads about 8 in. in diameter and weighing 5 to 6 lbs. The heads are very uniform, solid and of superb quality. An excellent cabbage for sauerkraut, fresh or cooked applications. Very good keeper with tight heads that rarely split.
Cabbage is a cool weather crop, making it a hardy plant that grows well in cooler climates.
SEED SOWING: Sow seeds indoors before last frost or direct sow outdoors in spring after last frost. Can be planted in late summer to early fall. Germination temperature 50F-75F. Sow seeds 1/8" deep, thin 1" tall seedlings to 18" apart. Germination is 10-15 days depending upon growing conditions.
